What was your inspiration for running in the Board of Supervisors District 1 position?
I’m running for Board of Supervisors District 1 because it’s critical that good, sound, wise people with traditional values are overseeing our county staff and the direction our county is going. Pinal County is rapidly changing due to growth, and the county has been struggling to keep up. We need to get ahead of the growth and make sure we are prepared to improve county services, support the sheriff, improve and build much needed roads, support election integrity, and support job growth for future generations. As a county Supervisor, decisions I make will be guided by my values. I believe in faith, family and freedom, which means I am pro-life, support protecting children, support free speech and religious freedoms, support parental rights, support America first, support second amendment rights, support property rights, and fiscal conservatism to keep property taxes low.
Have you run for this position before, or is this your first time?
While I have served on a Homeowners Association Board in the past, this is the first time I have run for public office, and I would be honored to serve our District. I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the support I have received as I have met people throughout the district.
What aspects of this role are you most looking forward to?
I most look forward to meeting people, getting to know the needs and concerns of those of us who live in District 1, and finding solutions that can be implemented by the county. I’m looking forward to supporting law enforcement and our first responders so that Pinal County can become a safer county. I’m also looking forward to meeting and getting to know county staff, supporting and encouraging them as they serve us.
What are some goals you have while in this position? What are some changes you'd like to see while in this position?
I would like to see a focus on planning for growth; especially addressing current and future transportation and infrastructure issues. A critical issue for our county is lack of infrastructure to draw in more businesses and jobs. I’ll fight for District 1 to get our fair share of county funds to address our issues. I want to see our county elections conducted in a fair and transparent way, so that we can be an example of how county elections should be conducted in Arizona. Furthermore, I would like to see increased transparency in all areas of the county administration. I am a strong supporter of law and order and border security, and so I believe that supporting our Sheriff is critical.
What will it mean to represent District 1 and its communities in this position?
It will be an honor for me to work hard and represent those in the city of Maricopa, the city of Coolidge, and unincorporated areas of District 1.
What are some challenges you foresee in this role? How will you work through them?
While the supervisor for District 1 is focused on issues in this district, the responsibility extends to all residents in all districts in Pinal County. Developing good working relationships with the other county supervisors is critical, as each of the supervisors have different and sometimes competing priorities and interests with different constituents. I have now had an opportunity to meet individually with all of the existing supervisors, as well as several of the candidates running for supervisor, and I am ready to get to work.
What do you plan on bringing to this office to benefit District 1 and communities?
In my formal training as a civil engineer and technology consultant for the last 20 years, I have frequently been called in to advise my clients on many different issues in an ever-changing marketplace, and addressing diverse needs. I plan to bring wisdom and hard work, and as Christian father, I intend to bring my values to bear on important decisions, as I am accountable to God, which will guide me to be a moral leader.
What are some current political, economic, etc. issues you plan to address? What is your position on them? How do you plan on creating the best solution for all involved?
Traffic, transportation and infrastructure are top issues, as they affect everyone on a daily basis. Better infrastructure can attract more business investors, and ultimately employers. Pinal County already has so many great attributes, including a great geographic location, from a tax standpoint nearly all of Pinal County is a duty-free foreign trade zone, great educational resources like Central Arizona College, and Pinal Airpark with major cargo support capability. These could be leveraged along with better infrastructure to create the jobs of tomorrow. Election integrity is a key issue to many voters in the district, as without it, we the people have no voice. Border security and law and order are also important issues to consider, as the influx of people illegally crossing our border is straining not only the Sheriff’s department but other county services as well.
What do you hope for your future in this role?
I hope to leave the county in a better shape and condition that when I arrived. A county that is safer, wealthier, more desirable, more secure, with low taxes, responsive and transparent county government, transparent and fair elections, with more jobs and job opportunities, better roads making it easier to get around, better quality of life, and better education options. In short, to make Pinal County an even better place to live than it already is.
